To mark the 60th Anniversary of Caltech’s Staff Service Awards, Caltech wanted a design that felt celebratory. Since diamonds represent a 60-year anniversary, we chose it as the central theme. The hexagon shape was selected to evoke both the structure of a diamond and Caltech’s scientific identity, referencing the hexagonal pattern on the exterior of Caltech’s Beckman Auditorium. To enhance the festive atmosphere, we used Caltech’s vivid secondary color palette, applying gradients across the spreads to capture the bright and energetic celebration the client envisioned.
